According to the local authorities, most of the refugees from northern Iraq, Iraqi Kurds, were sent to reception centers.

At least 2,000 people lived in 213 small wooden cabin camps built by doctors without borders in Grande-Synthe till it was burned on April, last year.

Similar operations were carried out in May and June, affecting at least 900 people against migrants and refugees residing there.

Many of the migrants are reported to seek asylum registered under the Dublin convention in EU country.

France received 100,000 test applications last year. Moreover, the French Government submitted refugee status for only 30,000 people. About 14,900 migrants were dismissed.

France is turning immigrants in a greater extent, according to a report published by the French NGO ‘the Cimade’ in June.
