Tehran declaration published


President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Iranian President Hasan Rouhani attended the trilateral Summit on Syria in Tehran.

In the joint statement, the leaders reiterated their belief that a military solution to the Syrian conflict could not be reached and that the conflict could be ended only through a negotiated political process.

The political process has confirmed the resolutions of the Syrian National Dialogue Congress held in Sochi and the determination to continue the active cooperation of the three countries to advance in line with the UN Security Council resolution 2254.:

“The Leaders restated their commitment to maintaining joint efforts to achieve a political settlement under the leadership of the Syrians and stressed their commitment to assisting the establishment of the Constitutional Committee and the launch of its work.”

The leaders also expressed their satisfaction with the achievements of the Astana format since January 2017, especially with the progress in reducing Syrian-wide violence and the contribution to peace, security, and stability in the country. 

In a joint statement, the leaders emphasized that the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic and its strong and continuing commitment to the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations and stressed that everyone should respect them.” it was said. 

In the declaration, “leaders rejected any attempt to create new realities in the field under the guise of fighting terrorism and expressed their determination to oppose the separatist agendas in relation to Syria’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and to undermine the national security of neighbour countries.” the expression took place.
